We all are passionate about pizzas. And to make the perfect pizza, you need to make the perfect dough. Pizza dough is easy to make. You can make it at your house, and you can even store the dough in your fridge in case you want to make pizza later. Top it with sauce, mozzarella cheese, meat, vegetable, bake it until it fluffy and your home-made pizza is ready to eat.

Follow the instructions on how you can make 1 pound of pizza dough. You can make two 10-inch pizzas with it.

What You Need

2 cups all-purpose flour, plus some extra if needed

One teaspoon active-dry of yeast

3/4 cup lukewarm water

1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

Step 1: Dissolve The Yeast In Water

Take some water into a medium-sized mixing bowl or in a stand mixer bowl and sprinkle the yeast over the water. Wait for the yeast to dissolve.

Step 2: Make A Rough Dough

Add flour and salt into the bowl of the water and the dissolved yeast. Stir using a spatula until the mixture turns into a floury, shaggy dough.

Step 3: Aerate The Dough

Aerate the dough for around 5 -8 minutes by using the dough hook of the stand mixer, or hand. Keep kneading the dough until it turns into a smooth, spongy ball that springs back when you poke it. If the dough gets sticking to your hand or the in the mixing bowl, sprinkle some flour on it until it becomes easy to handle. Remember not to add to much flour. You have three options on how to use the dough for pizza.

Option A — Use the dough straight away. If you make the pizza now without making the dough rise, the pizza will be thin-crusted.

Option B — If you aren’t in a hurry, then let the dough to rise for 1-1.5 hours. Allow the dough to rise first, and then you can use it for making pizza. Don’t forget to cover the bowl with a thin plastic sheet.

Option C — If you want to make pizza in the next few days, you can store the dough in your refrigerator. Cover the bowl with dough in it and store it in the fridge.

Step 4: Preheat your oven for baking

If you’ve stored the dough in the refrigerator, take it out and let it get warm. Preheat your oven to at least 500°F (260°C).

Step 5: Prepare The Pizzas

Take the dough and divide in to half. Now, pat and roll one of the pieces and make it into a 10-inch round. Place the round dough on a sheet pan. Top the pizza dough with 1/4 cup of sauce, cheese, vegetables or any other topping according to your preferences.

Step 6: Bake The Pizza

After you have preheated the oven, and prepare the pizza, its time to bake it. Slide the pizza in the oven using a sheet pan. Keep baking the pizza for around 5-10 minutes or until all the cheese, melts down and the crust turns golden. However, baking time depends on the heat of the oven, the thickness of your pizza dough and the toppings.

Step 7: Serve The Pizza

Take the pizza from the oven. It’s okay if you find your pizza that has some charred edges on the crusts. Let the pizza cool down a bit and then serve.
